Springfield Selects New Town Manager

At Monday evening's Selectboard meeting, the Springfield Selectboard voted unanimously to hire Scott Pickup of Bellows Falls, Vermont as their next Town Manager. Pickup was selected from a pool of 35 candidates in a national search and will succeed Jeff Mobus who is completing a fiver year term.

Pickup most recently served as the Municipal Manager in Rockingham and Bellows Falls, where he was widely recognized for bringing stability and strong, professional management to Rockingham / Bellows Falls. Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, he earned his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Public Administration from the University of Cincinnati and has served in town manager positions throughout the Northeast.

According to Selectboard Chair Kristi Morris, "Scott really distinguished himself based on his previous experience as a Town Manager, his knowledge of Vermont local government, and his collegial personality. I think he will be a great fit."

Morris continued, "The hiring process reflected a desire for the next manager to be a consensus builder, who is able to help implement our strategic plan, with previous experience as a Town Manager. When we met Scott, we felt he checked all the boxes."

According to Pickup himself, "I was drawn to the positive energy in Springfield and the Selectboard's vision to grow the tax base and diversify the housing opportunities. They have great staff and I'm eager to get to work."
