Comtu Cascade Park

Comtu Cascade Park is a riverfront park that was recently constructed on the site of the former Cobb-Derby Mill at 5-11 Main Street. It introduces valuable greenspace into the downtown area and includes public performance areas, patio seating, a deck, picnic tables, and a rain garden to filter runoff before releasing it to the Black River.

The park also serves as a core element in Springfield's planned Riverwalk which will eventually run from 100 River Street, behind the library & other buildings, and connect with another waterfront park behind Claremont Savings Bank near Lovejoy Tool Company. The Black River drops 110 feet in one-eighth of a mile in downtown Springfield & features five significant waterfalls. The Town plans to highlight these dramatic features as we continue our redevelopment in the area.
