What is Project ACTION?

Project ACTION is a collaboration of social service agencies and community members seeking to positively impact the Springfield Community.  It started in 2014 in response to an increase in violence and drug activity in town.  It was relaunched in 2023 when the VT Public Safety Enhancement Team brought a summit to Springfield and facilitated the reorganization.

The organizational structure is a nine-person Board of Directors.  The board updated and renewed its 501:3-c, non-profit status.  There are monthly subcommittee meetings.  There is a monthly full Project ACTION meeting.    There are also weekly meetings at the Police Department.  The first meeting is the Community Table.  The next meeting is called the Situation Table.

Who can come to the Project Action meetings?

Anyone interested in knowing more or getting involved can come to most meetings.  The Situation Table is more specifically designed for social service agencies that address specific “situations” and send a kind of “task force” of members to attempt to help decrease the “elevated risk” of that particular situation.

When and where are the meetings?

The two most common meetings occur on Friday mornings at the Springfield Police Department.  The Community Table begins at 930am in the community room.  The Situation Table begins at approximately 11 am after the Community Table.

Board meetings, committee meetings, and full Project ACTION meetings are set about one month in advance.  The meeting location depends on who is hosting and the availability of a particular venue.  Please contact the police department if you would like more information.
